Instrumentation1976. 12 accelerometers, on 4 levels in the building. 3 accelerometers at a reference free-field site (CSMIP Sta. 24303), about 135 feet west of the building. Recorder was upgraded in 2006. In 2018, instrumentation in building was removed and it was reinstrumented with 15 accelerometers on 4 levels.
 
Vertical Load Carrying System8-inch concrete flat slabs supported by concrete columns with capitals. Concrete joists and beams supported by columns (14th floor). Concrete joists and concrete encased steel girders with clear span for all three bays in the transverse direction (roof). On the west end of the building, the floor slabs are supported on the concrete joists and beams.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemReinforced concrete flat slabs and concrete columns with exterior concrete walls (8-inch) on the north, south and west sides of the building.
Foundation TypeConcrete pile foundations with piles which vary in depth from 12 feet beneath the footings at the ends of the building to about 30 feet near the center.
RemarksThere are very few windows in the walls. Building setback occurs at the east end above the 13th Floor. Large radio antennas installed above the penthouse during construction were removed in 1954.
