Instrumentation1997. 12 accelerometers, on 4 levels in the building. 3 accelerometers at a reference free-field site.

Vertical Load Carrying SystemThe 1st floor slab is 16.5" cast-in-place RC flat slab with 12" diameter sonovoid tubes. In upper floors, precast RC floor panels are supported by precast post-tensioned trusses and precast beams which in turn are supported by cast-in-place moment frame towers.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemIn the basement, lateral loads are resisted by 12" and 14" thick perimeter concrete walls. In upper floors, 16 cast-in-place moment frame towers, interconnected by precast beams and precast postensioned trusses, resist lateral loads.
Foundation TypeDrilled cast-in-place RC piers (1.5',2' & 3' diam.) with lengths ranging from 27' to 34'. Pier caps are joined by tie beams.
RemarksThe building was designed as per the requirements of the UBC (1961).
