Vertical Load Carrying SystemThe roof diaphragm is 1/2" plywood sheathing covered by clay roofing tiles (12 by 6 pitch). The floor diaphragms are 3/4" plywood sheathing covered by 3/4" gypcrete at room floors and 2" light-weight concrete at corridors.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemTwo-sided plywood shear walls in both directions. Walls in the transverse direction are essentially solid, while walls in the longitudinal direction have many openings.
Foundation TypeConcrete continuous spread footings under shear walls.
RemarksThe Center has five buildings. Only the South Wing of Buildign D (Cemex Building) is instrumented. Push-over analysis of the builidng was published in the 1996 SEAOC Convention Proceedings.
