Design Date1957, 2010 (retrofit)
Instrumentation2012, 21 accelerometers on 4 levels plus 3 accelerometers at a reference free-field.

Vertical Load Carrying SystemReinforced concrete slab supported by concrete joists and beams. Each level is supported by concrete columns and concrete walls, with one section at each level being supported by steel columns.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemReinforced concrete shear walls at interior and perimeter locations in both directions. Retrofit: Addition of new FRP wrap and steel plates at selected concrete shear wall and beam locations. Also, addition of new steel column at First Floor level at end of discontinuous shear wall.
Foundation TypeContinuous concrete footings at perimeter walls, and concrete pile caps with circular concrete piles at interior columns and shear wall locations. Pile caps tied together with concrete grade beams. Retrofit: Addition of new footing and micropiles at new steel column location.
RemarksThe voluntary seismic improvement (VSI) was designed in accordance with the 2010 California Building Code. Funding for instrumentation was provided by the owner as required by OSHPD. CSMIP provided assistance in instrumentation.
