Vertical Load Carrying SystemThe floor systems on the 2nd and 3rd floors consist of 1/2" plywood nailed to 2x10 wood joists at 16" o/c. The roof is made of wood trusses at 24" o/c. The joists and the trusses are supported on bearing walls or on header beams.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemPlywood shear walls with 2x6 studs at 16" o/c for the first story only. Gypsum board walls with 2x6 studs at 16" o/c for the second and third stories. Floor diaphragms consist of 1/2" plywood nailed to 2x10 wood joists at 16" o/c.
Foundation TypeAll shear walls are supported on 18"x18" concrete grade beams. Walls are anchored to the grade beams with 5/8" diameter anchor bolts. There is a 4" concrete slab on grade.
RemarksThe building was designed as per the 1982 UBC. The seismic design is for Zone 4.
