Instrumentation1995. 11 accelerometers, on 3 levels in the building.
 
Vertical Load Carrying SystemWSI (Williamatte Structural I) joists on 2x6 wood stud walls and Glu-lam beams. On the 2nd floor, plywood sheathing is nailed to WSI joists. On the roof, sheathing is nailed to rafters which are supported by WSI joists.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemPlywood shear wallls. Three in longitudinal direction and two in transverse direction. Walls are made of 2x6 studs with plywood/gypsum board sheathing. The exterior walls are also provided with 1'x8' Redwood siding. The floor diaphragms consist of plywood sheathing nailed to WSI joists.
Foundation TypeConcrete grade beams/spread footing under all shear walls. Walls in transverse direction are tied down to the grade beams. 3.5" concrete slab on grade.
RemarksThe building falls under the category of an engineered wood structure. It was designed by a Registereed Civil Engineer to conform with the 1988 UBC.
